Of course that’s exactly what Girl and I didn’t do last night when the big (“moderate”) earthquake hit our area. It was 5.6 in magnitude with an epicenter just north east of San Jose. It happened at around 8:04 pm when we were *cough* playing Guitar Hero, and lasted about 30 seconds. During that time Girl continued playing without missing a beat despite her wondering, curious eyes. Yes, it was an earthquake and yes, much like the song playing on the TV, it rocked (literally).

Despite this apparently being the biggest earthquake to hit the area since Loma Prieta, damage seemed minor. We had no problems or breakages, nor did anything seem amiss in our immediate area. The San Jose Airport did suffer some broken windows (in the control tower) as did a nearby mall which was also rattled enough to knock some items off of shelves. So far I’ve heard of no injuries. Hopefully it will stay that way.
