Cause for celebration? FriendOfGirl’s Birthday
Well, it was supposed to be a normal workday – craziness ensued early this morning and there was much running around. Around 11 a.m. FriendOfGirl (a part-time America/part-time Germany resident) called me. I was surprised (mainly because I thought she was in Germany) and told me that her jury duty commitment was done for the day – shall we have lunch?
Sure thing. We met up and she chatted on (in a non-obnoxious way) about what’s going on with her and how she is totally depressed (turning 30 will do that). Wait… It’s her birthday? Yes. Yes it is.
This is totally odd because yesterday was Jason’s birthday and that, too, was a complete surprise. I am the… worst… friend… ever. Whatever, I tried to make it up to her by buying her lunch, but she paid me back AND bought me a tea. We parted ways amicably, as I needed to get back to work, with promises to hang out soon.

Today, my brother texted my about my father’s birthday this Thursday, which I had TOTALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT!!! Plus, I had registered for a three-hour writing seminar that evening, which means I would miss birthday cake!
This, in turn, reminded me that I had also missed my friend Dena’s birthday, which was just this past Saturday. At the time, I was with my friend Nicole, hanging out in NYC, celebrating HER birthday.
March has completely blindsided me.
