I’ve been having issues with the flies (zippers) of my pants. In fact, I checked just now and (surprise, surprise!) it was down – “now” being this morning in my cube at work, so it’s been down since I’ve gotten ready to leave the apartment this morning.
There were at least 2 more occasions in the past couple of days where I have experienced a similar wardrobe malfunction… or is it user error? Most likely, it’s the latter. But why am I not performing this oh-so-necessary act of decency anymore? Do I have some weird, perverse variation of Tourette’s where, subconsciously I purposely ignore that step of getting dressed? Or maybe it’s just that I feel I need to impress people…
In any case, I will need to try to pay more attention next time. Some simple changes in procedure should help. For example, to keep myself from locking my keys in the car, I lock the car door from the outside with my keys. That way I always knew I had my keys outside of the car when it was being locked (though I’m still paranoid about it today, just ask Girl). For this issue, maybe I need to zip then button rather than the other way around. Pants can still feel “right” when buttoned even though they’re not zipped, but that is less so the case the other way around.
